Last season’s top goalscorer, Kristian Dennis signed for Chesterfield on May 10, 2016 and scored his first league goal in September of the same year in the 3-1 victory over Northampton Town.

Dennis went on to finish in his first season in league football with a total of 10 goals in 42 appearances.

He started his career at Macclesfield Town where he made four appearances and scored once in two years from 2008.

During that time, Dennis had loan spells with Ashton United and Woodley Sports – before he joined the latter on a permanent basis in 2010. After a season with Woodley he then signed for Mossely before scoring 61 goals in 72 appearances in a two-year spell with Curzon Ashton.

Dennis was then snapped up by Stockport County in 2013 where he scored 25 goals in a three-year spell. He returned to Macclesfield on loan in 2015 where he scored a further 29 goals.

His form attracted the attention of the Spireites then manager Danny Wilson who secured his services with a two-year contract.
