Briggs played for Fulham from the age of 10, progressing quickly through the then Premier League club’s youth academy.
He made his first team debut in 2007 against Middlesbrough, becoming the youngest person ever to play in the Premier League, at 16 years 65 days old.
He went on to make 30 appearances in all competitions for the Whites, and had several loan spells before his release in 2014.
He signed for Millwall and his association with Colchester began when he moved on loan there in 2015. He was released by theLions at the end of the 2014/15 season and joined Colchester, making 47 appearances for the Essex club until May 2017.
He joined the Spireites on a short-term contract on Friday, September 1, picking up the man of the match award on his debut versus Coventry City a day later.
Briggs represented England up to U21 level, but has chose to represent Guyana at senior level.
