Comfortable playing as a left back or central defender, Laurence Maguire made his way through the ranks of the Spireites after joining the club as a 14–year-old.
Maguire signed his first professional contract in June 2015, a year later he made his first team debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Checkatrade Trophy, before going on to make his league debut in Chesterfield’s 3-3 draw with Gillingham on September 27.
He scored his first senior goal in December as the Spireites defeated Rochdale 2-0 in the Checkatrade Trophy second round.
In February, Maguire spent a month on loan at AFC Fylde in the National League North before returning to the Spireites starting XI for the remaining six matches of the 2016/17 campaign.
Laurence is the brother of fellow professionals Joe and Harry Maguire of Boston United and Hull City respectively.
