Ian Evatt is currently in his second spell with the club after joining on a free transfer in 2013.

Originally coming through the ranks at Derby County he turned professional in 1998, three years later Evatt appeared as a 78th minute substitute against Ipswich Town for his professional debut.

The following season, Evatt went out on loan to League One club Northampton Town where he made 11 appearances before returning to the Rams two months later. Evatt suffered an injury in March 2003 and was released at the end of the season.

Following his hernia operation, Evatt first signed for Chesterfield in July 2003. In his first season with the Spireites he would make 47 appearances, scoring six times, his efforts secured him the Player of the Year award.

The following season Evatt would make a further 43 appearances before joining Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2005.

He made 27 appearances for the Hoops before going out on loan to Blackpool who he joined permanently in 2007 and help the Seasiders win promotion to the Championship at the end of the season.

Evatt would then go on to help the Seasiders gain promotion to the Premier League in 2009/10 and made 38 appearances in the top flight.

After his release from Blackpool in June 2013, Evatt re-joined Chesterfield and captained the side to the League Two title in May, 2014.

The defender recently signed a new one-year contract with the Spireites, just weeks after claiming the supporters Player of the Year Award.
