Following her appointment as the general manager of Chesterfield FC Women, Gabrielle Salomon has been talking about what she’s been up to and shared some exciting updates around the club’s progress...
I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to join the club. Chesterfield FC Women are a very exciting team to be a part of at the minute and there are so many fantastic opportunities ahead.
It’s been great getting to know all of the individuals involved in the club, there are so many passionate people involved behind the scenes that keep everything ticking which is brilliant for a club of our size.
“The season has now been brought to an end for the women’s team by The FA but before that happened I managed to attend a few fixtures which gave me a good insight into the matchday experience. We have a great community and supporter network which we’re excited to engage with further in the future and have a number of initiatives in the planning stage which we will share very soon.
One of the things I’m passionate about doing is making sure that the team's success last season isn’t just a one-off. Along with the women’s board, I have started to develop a four-year strategic plan to assist with the sustainability and growth of the club. This is something I feel is going to really help us become a major player in women’s football in this country and we’ll be looking to share this over the coming months.
The launching of our Chesterfield FC Girls Academy is going to help the club attract the best up and coming youngsters in the area. This is going to be another important pillar for the club, especially as the first team rise, we are going to need to be able to produce our own youngsters who can one day play in the first team.
The women’s team have seen a great deal of success this past season and we want to continue actively supporting the players on and off the pitch, in order to sustain the success and growth we are going to need significant investment which is another area I am going to be focusing my time. It’s so exciting to think what could be achieved with this club so I’m going to be reaching out to all corners of the community through different initiatives and projects.
I’d just like to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome since I joined the club and I can't wait for football to get back underway so I can meet some of you in person. Thanks for all of your continued support of the women’s team, stay safe and we’ll see you all very soon.
