Chesterfield FC Women’s General Manager Gabrielle Salomon shares updates around the squad and the return of the girls’ academy...
Back in March, our league (East Midlands Women’s Regional League) was instructed by the FA that due to COVID-19 our 2019/20 season would end with immediate effect, declaring it null and void with no promotions or relegations. Understanding the significance this global pandemic was making in our community, the women’s board members and I continued our efforts while safely operating out of our homes.
Throughout these past few months, we’ve been growing our management team with recent additions of Sadie Henson as partnerships manager and Katie Rowson as head of coaching. Our efforts have focused around sustainability of the club long-term through the development of strategic plans and growing relationships with local contacts.
We recently have taken on four committed student interns to help the club develop a communications and marketing plan with aims of developing the club further. As we begin planning for the 2020/21 season, we are in the process of developing partnerships with new organisations and attracting new sponsors in to the women’s section of the club.
In the recent weeks, following official FA guidelines and while maintaining social distancing regulations, we’ve been able to safely restart training for the first team, development team and academy squads. We’d like to give a big thank you to Carr Vale FC for hosting the first team throughout pre-season - their facilities have been absolutely fantastic and we look forward to using them in the future.
Outside of my role here with Chesterfield FC Women, I am a doctoral candidate researching the impacts diversity initiatives have within football. I have explored the value that comes with inclusive practices and have been tasked with reviewing our club’s equality policy to make sure we do our part in the future.
To further grow and develop the club, we are now looking to invite new board members as we aim to support activities holistically so we can best support our players, fans and the local community. We would like to invite individuals from all backgrounds to apply for a board position with Chesterfield FC Women by submitting a CV to the email below. We are committed to creating a diverse environment and do not discriminate against any applicant because of race, colour, religion, sex, national origin, political affiliation or belief, age, or disability.
We are looking forward to sharing news of some exciting player signings in the near future and would like to send a huge congratulations to defender Gemma Nuttall and partner Jerome on the birth of their son, Isiah!
