The tragic news that former Chesterfield player Jordan Sinnott passed away just before 7pm this evening at the age of 25 has been confirmed in a statement issued by the club he had been playing for, Matlock Town.
Police confirm that Jordan was found unconscious in Retford town centre last night with a suspected fractured skull. He was taken to hospital where he was put on a life support machine and joined by family and friends at his bedside.
We send our deepest condolences to Jordan's family and friends and our thoughts are with them at this time.
Jordan joined the Spireites in 2017 after leaving FC Halifax Town and made eight league appearances before leaving the Proact the following year.
The midfielder subsequently joined Alfreton Town and had latterly been on loan at Matlock.
