The youth team went down to a 1-0 defeat at home to their counterparts from Huddersfield Town on Saturday, but it was a very encouraging performance from the young Spireites.
The visitors weathered some strong pressure before scoring a few minutes before the break and it was a similar story in the second half with Chesterfield piling on the pressure but unable to force an equaliser.
Coach Lee Walshaw said: "I thought the lads did really well. They trained really hard during the week and they put into practice what we'd asked them to do.
"We totally dominated and the lads played some good football in difficult conditions.
"Coming off the back of a 4-1 defeat against them earlier in the season, we knew what problems they'd give us but we dealt with it.
"We hit the woodwork a few times. Dylan Wharton only had two shots to save all game and we totally dominated, but unfortunately we couldn't take any of our chances."
Spireites: Wharton, Garwood, Gibson (Netherwood 76), Brook, Wild, Bradbury (Tansley 73), Moore-Billam, Geeves (Clogg 66), Smith, Fuertado, Papworth (Turner 60)
Unused substitute: England
The youth team have a friendly on Thursday and then travel to Lincoln City on Saturday.
