Launch of Chesterfield FC Junior & Youth Academy

14 April 2020

Sponsored by

With the recent announcement of a change in our academy at the end of the season due to a lack of funding, we are pleased to confirm that the organisation will be relaunched as Chesterfield FC Junior & Youth Academy.

Organised by Chesterfield FC Community Trust, this will continue to benefit local children in Chesterfield and surrounding areas, working in partnership with grassroots clubs and the Trust’s ETC programme.

As we are no longer under the EFL EPPP programme, this provides the opportunity to play against not only teams from National League clubs but also Premier League teams. We feel that this provides an equally competitive set of fixtures in the Junior Premier League as well as fixtures against Category 1, 2 & 3 Football League opposition.

Youngsters who are selected to join the Chesterfield FC Junior & Youth Academy will represent the Spireites in fixtures in the Regional Junior Premier League and other competitive matches. There will be weekly training sessions with tournaments and tours arranged. The cost of joining the Junior Academy is £40 per month.

Those who join the Chesterfield FC Youth Academy will represent the club in the North Midlands U21 League, National League U19 and FA Youth Cup. The players will be based at the Proact Stadium and be involved in full-time training, with an education programme provided in partnership with Loughborough College.

Academy manager Neil Cluxton said: “It is important that the club gives opportunities to talented local youngsters and provides a supportive environment for them to enjoy their football.

“We will be working alongside local grassroots clubs. With Regional Junior Premier League matches being played on Saturday mornings, those who join the Junior Academy will be able to represent both Chesterfield FC and their grassroots club.

“It is an exciting development and we will be looking for parents of the youngsters and the community to get involved in order to make it a success. We would be interested to hear from any local companies who would like to discuss sponsorship opportunities.”

There are no trial dates confirmed yet due to the current pandemic but players can register an interest with trial dates to follow in due course.
