Goals from Scott Boden and Liam Mandeville gave the Spireites their second home win a row thanks to a 2-1 victory over Aldershot Town.

John Sheridan made two changes to the side that drew 1-1 at Hartlepool in midweek. Mandeville and Boden were brought in for Charlie Wakefield and Mike Fondop. Anthony Spyrou also made his return from injury, starting the game from the bench.

Joe Rowley had an early chance to open the scoring. The midfielder looked to chip Mitch Walker after the Aldershot keeper was spotted off his line but the effort looped over the other side of the crossbar.

In the 12th minute, the visitors took the lead. Harry Panayiotou had his original shot saved by Shwan Jalal before Ethan Chislett fired home from close-range.

The home side fought back to try and get on level terms. Firstly, Boden dragged an effort wide of the post before Tom Denton's header smacked the upright.

Just after the half hour mark, the Shots almost doubled their lead through Shamir Mullings. The striker latched onto a driven cross but could only put the ball over the bar from a few yards out.

The Spireites got their goal with five minutes of the first half left. Mandeville drilled in a low cross into Boden, who slotted home to level the scores going into half time.

Just five minutes into the second half, the away side were given a penalty after Mullings was brought down in the box by Jalal. Panayiotou stepped to take the spot kick and skied his effort high and wide into the Aldershot supporters.

The Spireites took the lead on the 56th minute. Mandeville received the ball 25-yards out from goal, past two defenders before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

Aldershot had two chances to equalise soon after. Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong hit the post with a curling shot that left Jalal stranded before the Chesterfield shot stopper pulled off a great save from Alefe Santos' effort.

The away side continued to look for the equaliser and almost found through Panayiotou. The winger flashed a shot that went across goal and the other side of the post.

Chesterfield hung on for a tense last 15 minutes to record their second home win on the trot.
