Speaking to the media after Tuesday night’s defeat to FC Halifax Town, John Sheridan stated that his side left themselves with too much work to do after being three goals down early in the second half.
“We’ve got this habit of conceding goals that are coming from nothing,” he said.
“It makes life very difficult for us and then we get very nervous.
“We ended up finishing the game really strongly but we gave ourselves a mountain to climb.
“Whatever system we are playing we should be winning football matches.
“All I can do is just keep going.”
When asked about the possibility of bringing in new signings, the Chesterfield manager was adamant that he has a capable squad but wants his players to show their ability on a more regular basis.
“We don’t need to bring any fresh faces in,” stated Sheridan.
“We are good enough with what we have got but we’re not showing it.
“We’ve got experienced players who have won promotions.”
The Spireites are yet to claim a victory this season, however, the Spireites boss put forward that he has to believe that he can turn things around.
“I haven’t come here to fail,” explained the manager.
“I’ve come here with a belief.
“I need to roll my sleeves up and I’ve got to think that we can turn a corner.”
