Coach Mark Crossley outlined the signs of improvement shown in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Dagenham & Redbridge ahead of tonight's game at home to FC Halifax Town (7.45pm).
While acknowledging the disappointing start to the season, Crossley concentrated on the positives from Saturday's match. He said: "We expected a lot better from the players but on Saturday, especially in the second half, there were signs of improvement.
"Doing things quicker, doing things with more determination and that's what we've been working on, trying to get that instilled into the lads.
"If we can start games like that, we feel that we won't be too far away from getting where we want to be.
"We've conceded far too many easy goals. Not necessarily down to the goal keeper or as a team but collectively."
Crossley thinks that a first win of the season would be the spark that is needed to kick-start the campaign. "Once we get that, that's when we believe we can start moving up that table," he said.
"We expect us to be pushing up there for the play-offs at least. If you don't expect it, you don't get it so we have to work towards that."
