The annual Armistice Day ceremony, held to remember the 17 players and officials from Chesterfield FC who lost their lives in the wars of the last century, will take place on Monday, November 11.
The event will take place at the war memorial in the Memorial Garden at the Proact and will commence at 1.30pm. The 15 players, manager and director who made the ultimate sacrifice will be remembered by staff from the Community Trust and the club, including the players. Partner organisations will also be in attendance.
This year marks the centenary of the death of Lt Vernon Bowmer MC, the last player who died of injuries from the First World War. It is also 75 years since Sgt Fred Fisher, who also played for England, died when his plane crashed in France.
Everyone is welcome to attend the ceremony and further details can be obtained from Peter Whiteley at the Community Trust.
