The Spireites youth team will be hoping to make it two wins on the spin when they host Walsall in the EFL Youth Cup on Saturday, kick-off 11am.
Last time out the young Spireites played at the Proact for the first time this season as they came from behind against Mickleover Sports FC to progress to the next round of the FA Youth Cup.
After the 3-1 victory academy coach Neil Cluxton was pleased how his side responded after a shaky start.
“We had the worst possible start after thinking we’d covered every eventuality. From our throw-in, we lost possession, the ball was crossed in and they scored,” he said.
“Fair play to the lads because they didn’t panic and just kept playing their football. Despite the rain, the good condition that the pitch is in meant we could still keep playing football.
“It was a decent performance and it would be nice to get another home draw in the next round. Our lads rarely get the opportunity to play at the Proact and they have shown what they can do on a big pitch with a good surface.”
In their first match in the EFL Youth Cup the under 18s suffered a 3-0 defeat at Grimsby Town, however, their confidence will be high after Monday night’s win as they go in search of their first victory in the competition this season.
The fixture takes place at the following venue:
St George's Park, Sheffield Graves
