After rejoining Chesterfield, defender Haydn Hollis expressed his satisfaction at the move when speaking to Spireites Digital after putting pen to paper on a one-year deal.
“I’m delighted to be signing here,” said Hollis.
“I really enjoyed last year, especially the second half of it and hopefully we can take that into the new season.
“There was a little bit of interest from elsewhere but I didn’t look into it, as soon as the manager said he wanted to keep me on I wanted to stay here.
“It’s a great football club, it’s a big football club.”
The 26-year-old spent last season on loan with the Spireites and also has experience with working under manager John Sheridan during his time at Notts County.
The defender mentioned that the opportunity of linking up with Sheridan again was a major factor in his decision to rejoin the club.
“He knows me and I know him,” he explained.
“If you’re not going to be happy playing for him then you’re not going to be happy playing for many managers because he’s fair with you.
“He’s a great manager to work for and Snods (Glynn Snodin) who I’ve also enjoyed working with.”
Hollis is the Spireites’ first signing of the summer and the centre-back finished off by stating that he is looking forward to getting the new season underway, by saying: “It comes around quicker than you think so I can’t wait to get going and have a good pre-season.
“Hopefully we will be up there challenging.”
