There is a vacancy for a first-team performance analyst intern at the club. Please see below for all the relevant details.

Role Title

First Team Performance Analyst Intern


To assist with the running of the First Team Performance Analysis department at Chesterfield Football Club. The role is ideal for a Master’s level student looking to gain working experience at a Professional Football Club within the field of Performance Analysis. The main duties will involve assisting the First Team Analyst in their day to day duties. For example, filming & live-coding on match days, post-game coding (Individual Clips/Statistics), creating opposition reports & clips for analysis sessions, gathering & interpreting statistics post-game.

Person Specification

-        Determined and hardworking

-        Keen interest within the field of Performance Analysis.

-        Enthusiasm and willingness to learn

-        Willingness to work flexible and unsociable hours as and when required

-        Reasonable knowledge of football

Course of Student

Preferably, a Master’s level student (or Graduate) on a relevant Sport Degree, but open to final year undergraduate students

Essential Prerequisites/Qualifications

Clear and Enhanced CRB check

Place of Work

Chesterfield Football Club, Proact Stadium, 1866 Sheffield Rd, Chesterfield S41 8NZ

Hours Required/Pattern

Must be available for home match days: Saturdays – 12noon-6pm

A minimum of two days during the working week – Usual hours 8.30am-3pm

Willing to work from home on Sundays

What Will This Opportunity Provide The Student With?

The Experience to be Gained

This position will allow the appropriate candidates to gain experience within the field of Performance Analysis at a Professional Football Club in the National League. There will also be opportunities to gain experience in the following areas:

-        Filming & live-coding National League matches.

-        Using performance analysis software (NAC SPORT) to create video clips and gather statistics.

-        Keeping a Statistical Database updated.

-        Creating Opposition reports using Wyscout & Scout 7.

-        Interacting with elite players and coaching staff.

-        Understanding how a multi-disciplinary team come together at a First Team level for a Professional Football Club.

Academic/Module Related Information

Potential to use the Internship for a Master’s Dissertation Project.
