The Spireites youth team travel to face local rivals Mansfield Town in their next EFL Youth Alliance fixture on Saturday, kick-off 11am.

The Chesterfield U18s held league leaders Grimsby Town to a 0-0 draw at home last time out.

After last weekend’s draw, academy manager John Pemberton stated that it was a positive result which the young Spireites can take into Saturday’s mini derby.

“We played really well. We had several opportunities and could have won the game quite comfortably,” he said

“Jack Holmes and Brandon Howard both had good chances. Javanne Smith also had a good header, forcing the goalkeeper to make a good save.

“We limited them to no shots at goals, so it was really pleasing. We’ve been doing a lot of the offensive-type work, winning second balls and being a little bit quicker to winning the ball back on the transition.”

The U18s come up against a Mansfield team who sit in third place in the Youth Alliance Northeast division, in what should be a hotly contested fixture.

The address for the venue of the match is as follows: -

The RH Academy,

Woburn Lane,

Mansfield,

NG19 7RT
