Speaking to Spireites Digital after Saturday’s defeat at Wrexham, John Sheridan explained that he thought they were unlucky to be on the wrong side of a 1-0 scoreline.
“I don’t think we deserved to lose the game,” he said.
“I don’t think we played great but we were organised and solid again. I think we have thrown the game away to be fair.
“I’m really beat up about the manner of the goal we conceded.
“We were playing a good team who are at the top of the league, but I think we matched them.
“We’ve nullified them. If anything we created better chances.”
Both Charlie Carter and Alex Kiwomya, who were on the scoresheet on Tuesday night, were left out of the matchday squad at Wrexham.
When asked about the pair, Sheridan confirmed that both were not involved in the squad because of injury.
“Charlie has got a little knee problem after a shooting session on Friday, hopefully, he’ll be alright on Saturday,” stated Sheridan.
“Alex felt his hamstring when he came on the other night, just after he scored actually.”
The Spireites travel to Braintree in their next National League fixture, and Sheridan was quick to point out the importance of putting Saturday’s loss behind them.
“All the games are crucial. Braintree are down there,” explained the boss.
“They’ll believe that they can get something out of it.
“We will go there and we know the importance of getting three points.
“I’ve just said to the players that we’re lucky we’ve got a game on Tuesday.
“We’ve got to try and forget about Wrexham and concentrate on Braintree.”
