John Sheridan has revealed that offers have been made for two players as he continues his quest to strengthen the squad.
In an interview with Spireites Digital, Sheridan said: "I've spoken to players and made offers for two players, but it's still very early days.
"Everyone would like to get their house in order as quickly as they can but most players are still under contract until June 30th. I've got a strong belief that we'll get the right kind of players to make us a better team."
Commenting on his decision to sign Liam Mandeville, who last week agreed to join Chesterfield when his contract at Doncaster Rovers expires, the Spireites boss said: "I liked him 15 months ago when I was manager of Notts County and he was playing for Doncaster. In that year, I think he got 12 goals.
"He's attack-minded and he can play anywhere up top. I just think there's a really, really good player in there. For some reason, he's gone off the boil, but I think I'll get something out of him.
"I see him as someone getting goals from midfield, in the Danny Whitaker mould. I've got a massive belief that I can make him better and I think he'll be a massive player for us. He's a good age as well at 22."
