An agreement has been reached with Bowmen of Chesterfield Archery Club for their members to continue using the club's training ground.

Bowmen of Chesterfield Archery Club was formed in 1981 and provides target archery for all ages. It is one of 12 Derbyshire clubs affiliated to Archery GB and East Midlands Archery Association.

They shoot outdoors in the summer at the Hasland venue on Monday and Thursday evenings plus Saturday afternoons. In the winter, they shoot indoors on Monday evenings at Staveley, plus Saturday afternoons outdoors in Hasland. It is possible to shoot Recurve bows, Longbows or Compound bows.

Club secretary Graham Felstead said: "Some of our members shoot just for fun and self improvement, whilst others take part in club competitions and summer and winter national 'postal league' competitions. Our serious archers also take part in inter-club events.

"If you would like to try archery, we run 'Have A Go' events for small groups for a small charge. If you want to take up the sport more seriously, then you can complete a beginners’ course, which will allow you to apply to join a club.

"After you join, there will be the cost of your own equipment, but yearly subscriptions to the club are not expensive."

If you would like to know more about courses, or archery, then please contact the club secretary on 07718 053403 or email g.l.felstead@btinernet.com.
