After drawing 2-2 at home to Solihull Moors on Boxing Day, John Sheridan gave his reaction after conceding a stoppage time equaliser.
The Chesterfield manager started with an update on Laurence Maguire who was stretchered off in the second half.
He said: “It’s a knee injury. We just have to assess him to see how serious it is.
“We’ll leave it to the people who know better.
“It’s a shame. He’s just caught his studs in the grass.
“We’ll just have to sit and wait for the diagnosis and what they come back with.
Sheridan continued by talking about his side’s performance and how he was disappointed not to be able to hang on to their lead.
“I’m gutted for the players,” said the manager.
“We made it hard for ourselves in the second half and it’s just a bit of game know-how that let us down.
“We’re unfortunate to concede but that’s what happens when you’re near the bottom of the league.
“They’re a team that put loads and loads of balls in the box with big units. We knew that and I felt we dealt with it in the first half.
“We get our goals which are two great goals. It’s just a shame we don’t end up winning the game.”
Jack McKay grabbed his second goal in as many games but the striker was substituted at half time with Joe Rowley taking his place.
The boss said: “He was involved in the first goal, took his goal well in the second. He’s probably the quickest player at the club. He’s just got to believe in himself more than anything else.
“He’s another one with this sickness bug. There’s a lot of it going around. We’ve lost two important players at an important time."
