After the Spireites' 2-1 loss at home to Yeovil Town, goalkeeper coach Mark Crossley spoke to the media and gave his assessment on the game.

He said: “It’s been the story of the season and we keep repeating ourselves. We’ve got no excuses and we need to stop making mistakes.

“We’re all in it together and we need to try and get it right.

“We need to carry on doing what we are doing and try and combat what’s going wrong.

“We know it’s not good enough and we accept that. The fans are not happy and we can understand why they are not happy."

Matt Tootle and Luke Coddington were both forced off with injuries and taken off the field on a stretcher.

Crossley gave an update on the two players, by saying: “Matt Tootle has rolled his ankle and he’s got a bad swelling on there.

“Coddington has a serious injury. We’re not sure if it’s a fractured knee or a patella tendon.

“We’re a bit down in the dumps for both of them.”

Chesterfield welcome Notts County to the Proact Stadium on Saturday in the FA Trophy and the goalkeeping coach hinted that there might be a few personnel changes to the side.

“We might have to throw a few of the kids in,” claimed the goalkeeper coach.

“We don’t like to put too much pressure on the young lads but it might have to be the case.

“It’s a big game against a big club and we all know there’s Wembley at stake. Everybody wants to get to Wembley in this competition.”
