The Spireites fell to a 2-1 loss to Bromley after two late goals cancelled out Mike Fondop’s opening goal.
John Sheridan made two changes to the side that drew with Aldershot last Saturday. Haydn Hollis and Fondop returned in place of Liam Shaw and Tom Denton.
Gevaro had the first shot on goal in the 12th minute. His free-kick proved to have too much on it and the ball cleared the crossbar.
However, the Spireites took the lead just three minutes later. Jay Sheridan’s cross eventually found Scott Boden in and around the six-yard box, who poked the ball through to Fondop. The striker accepted his gift and poked the ball home from close-range.
Chesterfield continued to stay on the front foot and looked to double their lead. Boden and Will Evans saw their headers collected by Ryan Huddart in the Bromley goal.
Home debutant Matt Tootle tried his luck with the first half coming to an end. The full-back couldn’t keep his shot down as he let fly from the edge of the area.
The visitors came close to levelling things up in the early knockings of the second half. Michael Cheek's powerful volley rose over the bar and failed to trouble Luke Coddington.
Just after the hour mark, the Spireites came agonisingly close to adding a second goal. Evans collected the ball out on the right-hand side and whipped in a tantalising ball but it managed to miss everyone in the opposition box.
In the 78th minute, Bromley equalised. Ben Williamson headed in from Luke Coulson's free-kick past a helpless Luke Coddington.
Just four minutes later, the away side completed the turnaround. Coulson was yet again the architect with a pacey, whipped ball that was headed beyond Coddington by the despairing Evans.
The Spireites battled to find an equaliser but couldn’t get past the Bromley defence and fell to a heart-breaking 2-1 loss.
