After the Chesterfield Women were victorious in their first-ever league match at the Proact, manager Mike Noon stated how satisfied he was with his sides’ 3-0 win over Lincoln Moorlands Railway.
“I’m absolutely delighted,” he said to Spireites Digital.
“After last time out losing in the league, it’s good to get back to league action and win.
“It’s great to get three goals and a clean sheet so I’m chuffed to bits.”
The win on Sunday came after their first league defeat of the season at Hykeham Town Women and the manager explained that he was pleased to see the team bounce back, by saying: “The biggest thing today was to get back to winning ways.
“We are not used to losing so we always try to make sure we are on the front foot and win as many games as possible.
“We’ve got to keep pushing on to hopefully win the league and get promotion.
“It was great to get back to winning and hopefully it can continue.”
Chesterfield experienced a brilliant season last campaign winning the quadruple and have started this term strongly, winning three out of their first four league fixtures.
Noon pointed out that they have used that positive energy going into this season, by claiming: “Last year we went a whole season unbeaten, which was fantastic.
“We added to the squad in the summer and added some fresh faces which has given us a real boost in terms of quality.
“We are just bouncing on from that and trying to keep the momentum going.”
The Spireites Women have played at the Proact in friendly matches earlier in the year but Sunday was their maiden league fixture at the ground and the manager put forward that playing there is a great experience for his players.
“It’s a fantastic arena, the club has got a fantastic stadium,” he said.
“For us to play a few games on it throughout the season is absolutely brilliant for the girls, the staff and the supporters to come and watch.
“It’s great to see so many people come out and watch the game, I think the girls really responded to that.”
Noon’s side return to the Proact on Sunday 15th of December, kick-off 1.30pm, against Long Eaton in the semi-final of the Derbyshire Cup.
The women’s coach expressed that he would like another good turnout for what will be a massive game for the ladies’ team.
“We’re in the semi-final of the Derbyshire Cup against Long Eaton,” stated Noon.
“The club have said that we can play at the Proact again and hopefully we can get a big crowd.
“Long Eaton are two leagues above us so it’s going to be a tough game.
“Chesterfield haven’t got to the final of the Derbyshire Cup for a very long time so it’s something we are really passionate about doing.
“Hopefully the fans can come out and support us and we put in a good performance and get to the final.”
