Chesterfield Women were victorious in their first-ever league match at the Proact beating Lincoln Moorlands Railway 3-0 on Sunday.
The Spireites looked to put the visitors under some early pressure when good play between Amy Buzzeo and Paige Singleton put the latter through down the left. The Chesterfield number nine struck her effort well but pulled it wide.
Nic Watson produced a good stop to keep out Alice Hayes’ strike as she got down to her left to keep out the effort from inside the area.
Chesterfield had the first big chance of the game when a fantastic cross by Leoni Everley was met by Singleton at the near post, however, the striker directed her header over from just a few yards out.
Lincoln then had an opportunity of their own just a couple of minutes later when Hayes found herself one on one with Watson. Once again the Spireites stopper produced a brilliant save to deny the striker.
Singleton looked the most threatening of the Chesterfield attackers and she opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, curling the ball into the right-hand corner from inside the area.
The forward was keen to get another as Robyn Henton laid the ball off outside the area for Singleton to run onto. She connected with the first time effort well but the Lincoln keeper got behind it to save.
With just under 15 minutes of the first half to go the Spireites doubled their lead. A pinpoint cross was floated in from the right and Amy Buzzeo rose highest to glance a header into the bottom left corner (31).
Chesterfield continued to test Richardson in the Lincoln goal but the goalkeeper was on hand to make stops from long-range efforts from Izzy Lonsdale and Robyn Henton.
The beginning of the second half saw the Spireites assert their dominance as Henton looped a half volley narrowly over the crossbar.
Substitute Beth Smyth looked to make an impact as she came off the left to test the goalkeeper from a tight angle but Richardson palmed the strike away from danger.
The hosts' persistence paid off when Kelly Fidler dug out a cross to the far post for Lonsdale to meet and side foot the ball past the Lincoln keeper and into the right corner (65).
Chesterfield were unlucky not to get a fourth goal moments later as a shot came back off the crossbar, Lonsdale reacted first to get to the rebound but saw her effort saved from close range.
Courtney Caunt came off the bench and looked most likely to add to the comfortable scoreline but saw two efforts saved late on.
