A Mike Fondop equaliser secured a point for the Spireites after coming back from 2-0 to draw with Ian Evatt's Barrow.
John Sheridan made two changes to the side that drew 2-2 at Barnet. Jay Sheridan and Robbie Weir replaced Josef Yarney and Curtis Weston.
The away side almost opened the scoring in the first five minutes. Scott Quigley initially latched onto a cross that was blocked on the line. The ball was only cleared as far as Lewis Hardcastle who saw his attempt pushed away by the hands of Shwan Jalal.
A minute later Chesterfield had an attempt of their own to take the lead. Liam Mandeville was quick to pick up the ball in the box, but his effort was skewed wide of the goal.
However, on the 18th minute, Barrow took the lead. Former Spireite, Bradley Barry, let fly from long-range and his shot flew into the top corner.
Seven minutes later, the visitors doubled their lead. Quigley was quickest to react to a low corner and fired the ball into the back of the net (25).
Jalal was there again to deny Barrow moments later. Olly Dyson's curling shot was destined for the far corner, but the ball was turned away by the Spireites goalkeeper.
In added time, Barrow were denied a third after a last stitch goal-line clearance from Anthony Gerrard.
Seconds later, the home side were awarded a penalty after Jermaine McGlashan was brought down in the box. Scott Boden stepped up and converted the spot-kick to half the deficit going into half time (45+5).
The Chesterfield manager made a change at half time with Sheridan making way for Jonathan Smith.
Ten minutes into the second half, the Spireites almost found themselves level. Fondop rose highest to head on a Mandeville cross but Dixon held onto the ball.
With the second half ticking by, the hosts looked to try and find an equaliser. Mandeville had a couple of attempts on goal but couldn’t find the back of the net.
Fondop had a great chance to bring the game level on the 73rd minute. He latched onto a fantastic cross from Yarney but couldn’t direct his header on target.
With ten minutes to go, the Spireites levelled the scores. David Buchanan whipped in a cross that found the head of Fondop and the striker buried the chance to grab his third goal in two games.
Neither side could find a winner in the last few minutes despite chances for both teams.
