John Sheridan expects Woking to present his side with a tough challenge when they visit the Proact on Tuesday night and he also revealed that he's trying to sign a Championship player.
Woking are fifth in the table following a 1-0 victory over Harrogate Town at the weekend and Sheridan acknowledges the threat posed by the National League newcomers.
He said: “They’re another team that have started the season well. They were winning games on a regular basis last year to get promoted.
“I’m expecting a tough game. They’ll be confident and they will look forward to coming here.
“If you’re going to go anywhere in the league, you’ve got to win your home games. We need to try and win one or two games quickly.
“I think it’s important to try and get three points. I want us to play football, I want us to be attractive and I want us to be good to watch. At the end of the day, the most important thing is coming back with three points.”
The manager stressed the importance of keeping a clean sheet if they are to claim their first three points of the season.
“Clean sheets are always a massive bonus. As a team, we need to defend from the front. Don’t let little things go by,” he stated.
Laurence Maguire, who was red-carded against Boreham Wood, will miss the game against Woking.
Sheridan gave an update on the rest of the squad. “Everyone’s fit and available," he said. "Obviously, Laurence is suspended, but everyone’s come through the game okay.
“They (Denton and Gerrard) won’t be back tomorrow, but they will be back very soon.”
After the signing of two loan players fell through last week, Sheridan has identified other targets in the transfer market. “We’ll be trying. I was trying to get one in for tomorrow. Hopefully we’ll get someone on board as quickly as we can.
“One’s a loan from the Championship, if we can get him. A player I’ve always liked. We’ll try and get him in if we can and he’ll be a really good addition."
