As the Spireites go in search of their first win of the season, manager John Sheridan acknowledged the threat posed by Saturday's opponents, Boreham Wood.
Ahead of the trip to Hertfordshire, Sheridan gave his verdict on Boreham Wood, saying: “They’ve got a good team. They’re like most teams - on their day they can beat anyone.
“They had a good result the other night against a good team in Wrexham, so we’re very wary of them. I think most teams and most managers will think that they can have a good season. I think it’s a very well evenly matched league and I think results on Tuesday night proved that.
“I think if we perform like we did on Tuesday then we’ve got a good chance of getting something.”
Chesterfield will continue in their pursuit of new signings to add to Sheridan’s squad after missing out on two players over the past few days.
“I’ve rang another club trying to get another player this morning, so you just move on and we’ve just got to try and get the right kind of player that will make us better," he said.
Sheridan relishes the busy fixture schedule the National League has provided so far this season. He said: “If I was a player, I’d prefer to be playing Saturday to Tuesday. That’s just me, winning or losing.
“When you’re losing you’ve got to concentrate on the next game coming quickly and if you’re winning you want to carry on playing because you’re winning."
The Spireites have some injury concerns but Sheridan a trio of players to be back fighting for a place in the squad soon. He commented: “They will be all back similar times. [Anthony] Gerrard, [Tom] Denton and [Anthony] Spyrou are all coming back. Spyrou might be a little longer but Gerrard and Denton will be back in a week or so.”
