Defender Will Evans has signed a new contract with the Spireites which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2021.
Last year’s Player of the Year spoke to Spireites Digital after putting pen to paper on a new contract and began by explaining how pleased he is to sign a contract extension with the Spireites.
“It’s a very exciting moment for me,” he said.
“I’d like to thank everyone for getting this deal through for me.”
The 27-year-old was signed last summer under a different management team, but the defender spoke very positively about the impact John Sheridan has made since returning to the club.
“I’ve found it very positive,” Evans claimed.
“There has obviously been an uplift in results since he took over.
“He’s been trying to drill into us about how he wants us to play this season.”
The Spireites get their season underway when they face Dover Athletic at the Proact on Saturday, and Evans put forward that his aim is to help Chesterfield achieve promotion, by saying: “I want to be in a team that is successful.
“Hopefully we can be up there and push for promotion.
“It’s vitally important that you always want to be winning.”
