After the Spireites’ 1-0 away defeat to Gateshead on Friday, John Sheridan began his post-match interview by stating that he was disappointed with his side's performance.
“I’m always disappointed when we lose,” he said to Spireites Digital.
“I think on our part it was a typical three games to go, knowing we are safe in the middle of the table performance.
“I think it was a lethargic performance.
“I don’t think I’m weakening the team but you look at the performance here and at Dover, they’ve been lethargic.
“We should go into the game with a bit of freedom and want to express ourselves.”
Both Curtis Weston and Josef Yarney, who have both been regular starters since Sheridan took charge, weren’t included in the matchday squad on Friday.
The Spireites boss confirmed that both of them are likely to feature on Monday against Boreham Wood, but explained that he believes the individuals that came in should be able to make more of an impact.
“They’ll be involved on Monday,” said Sheridan.
“Joe Rowley is another one. I just feel as though I’ve got players who should be coming into the team and be very comfortable.”
Chesterfield were cheered on by 650 supporters that made the trip to the Northeast and Sheridan finished off by expressing how much their support means to him, by saying: “Brilliant support.
“We didn’t really give them that much to shout about to be fair.
“They were here in numbers and I appreciate them. Hopefully, we can go into the game on Monday and get a win for them.”
The Spireites will look to bounce back with a win when they host Boreham Wood in their final home game of the season on Monday.
