Tom Denton played a key role in the 3-0 victory over Sutton United, setting up goals for Jonathan Smith and Scott Boden before rounding off the scoring himself.
Denton expressed how pleased he was with the victory and talked about his partnership with Boden, which has been a major factor in the upturn in results.
He said: “It’s a good win and it’s good to win at home. I’ve been doing everything but scoring. Glynn Snodin said it will come, I just need to keep helping the team out. He’s been saying when I play, I take two players out and give space for others.
“It’s just nice to contribute with a goal and a couple of assists. We get weighed and do body fats and I’ve lost 4% body fat and 5kg in weight since I’ve been here, which means I can move about the pitch more.
“It helps having a partner to play off. Scott has got the goals and I think that’s what we were missing. Before defenders were just sweeping up because there was no one up with me but now Scott is up there with me, we are causing teams some problems.
“Scott has done brilliantly since he has come in. We’ve built up a good partnership and hopefully we can keep doing that until the end of the season.”
Denton has thrived under John Sheridan's management, as he acknowledges. “I’ve been involved in every game since he’s been here, so I’ve enjoyed it," said the 29-year-old. "He’s thorough with his training and obviously results have picked up.
“He likes to mix it up, sometimes balls come into my feet and if times get hard then he wants us to run in behind. It’s not just ‘tippy, tappy football'. He’s been good and it’s showing on the pitch.”
