Joe Rowley could not hide his delight after being called-up to the England C squad for Tuesday night's game against Wales at Salford City's Peninsula Stadium.
After the teenage midfielder received a call on Monday morning, telling him to report for duty, he told Spireites Digital: "I'm actually buzzing. It's an honour to play for England so I can't wait to get started. I'm looking forward to the game."
After finding himself out of the Chesterfield side for a spell, Rowley has been left to reflect on a sharp upturn in his fortunes of late.
"I wasn't in favour a couple of weeks ago and now I'm playing for England," he said. "It just shows how quickly it can change and I'm just delighted to be a part of it."
Commenting on Saturday's 2-1 win at Havant & Waterlooville, Rowley added: "It was a great win and I thought it was fully deserved."
