The Spireites youth team were beaten 4-2 at home by Doncaster Rovers last weekend in the EFL Youth Alliance.
Levi Amantchi opened the scoring, but three goals in quick succession gave Doncaster the upper hand before half-time.
The young Spireites started the second half on the front foot and got a goal back inside the first ten minutes. Chad Gibson found Brandon Howard with a cross, and he slotted the ball into the back of the net to give them hope of a comeback.
However, Doncaster put the game beyond doubt after scoring their fourth goal of the game.
There were positives to take from the fixture, as many of the players in the younger age groups were given an opportunity to play.
Jack Holmes was the standout performer for Chesterfield in his first game back since recovering from an injury. He put in a commanding performance in midfield on his return to the side.
The academy will now look to organise friendlies for the youth team, as they don’t have a league fixture until the 26th of January.
