New manager John Sheridan told the players that it is a new beginning for everyone, regardless of whether they were in his predecessor's plans.
A number of players who were made available last month by former boss Martin Allen now have the opportunity to convince Sheridan that they should be included in his plans.
At his opening pre-match press conference, Sheridan said: "It's a new beginning. I want them to come in with a smile on their face. Forget what's gone and push on now and get the results we need to stay in the division.
"It's a clean slate. I want them all to think that they've got a chance of playing for me. Different players will impress me. I've told them all, 'if you've not been involved, think you're going to be involved now'. I'm giving everyone an opportunity."
Looking ahead to Saturday's FA Trophy tie at home to Bedford Town, the manager said: "We'll go through a bit of shape tomorrow and how I want us to try and play. It's something that will hopefully work for us in the long run.
"No disrespect to Bedford, but I'd like to concentrate on what we're going to do because I think if we're on our game, we'll win the game. I expect us to win the game but that's not taking them lightly whatsoever."
Sheridan added that Alex Kiwomya and Bradley Barry are both unfit.
