A late Robbie Foster winner secured a 2-1 win for the Spireites youth team against Burton Albion on Friday.
The young Spireites were coming off an impressive 4-1 win against Huddersfield Town and looked the most likely to score early on as Jack Holmes tested the keeper.
However, it was the home side that took the lead through Ethan Vale who curled a corner directly into the Chesterfield net.
Burton’s lead didn’t last long as good play down the left by Levi Amantchi enabled the striker to get a shot off. His effort was saved well but Javanne Smith was there to finish off the rebound.
After soaking up a considerable amount of pressure in the second half, the young Spireites were able to manufacture a decisive winning goal. Burton lost the ball in their own half thanks to some clever pressing by Chesterfield and Foster cut in on his right foot to score the winner.
The hosts tried their best to get an equaliser but the Spireites defence held firm.
