John Sheridan talked about wanting to establish a winning mentality at the club when he faced the media ahead of Saturday's game at home to FC Halifax Town.

The Spireites boss made no secret of the fact that he was disappointed with his team’s display in last week’s FA Trophy tie against Brackley Town, but he is keen to draw a line under that and move on.

He said: "The performance was nowhere good enough but it’s gone now and I don’t want to dwell on it. It’s important that I lift the players as quickly as I can.

"We need to win games at home. It’ll be a tough test but when we’re at home, I expect us to win the game.

"I think that winning every game - even reserve and friendly games - is a good habit. We need to get a winning mentality in and around the place and hopefully we can do that to enable us to stay up."

Halifax are five points ahead of the Spireites and Sheridan acknowledges that it won't be easy against the West Yorkshire team. "It’ll be a tough game but I’d just like us to be positive and go out and try and get at them from the off," he said. "I’ll put an attack-minded team out and when we get chances, we need to take them."

Robbie Weir is expected to be involved after missing last weekend's game. Sheridan confirmed that Bradley Barry and Marc-Antoine Fortune both trained this morning after shaking off knocks, adding: "Hopefully they’ll both come through and be available on Saturday."

Sheridan also said that Laurence Maguire and Charlie Carter are both making good progress as they recover from injury.  Maguire played the full match in the behind-closed-doors fixture against Lincoln City in midweek while Carter played around 75 minutes.
