After acknowledging the threat posed by Saturday's opponents, Dagenham & Redbridge, Martin Allen pointed out his own team's strengths when he spoke to the media in his pre-match press conference.

Looking ahead to the game, Martin said: "It's going to be a tough game, I say it week in, week out because every team is well prepared.

"They're well coached, they're well drilled and they're difficult to play against. A lot of the clubs we play against play five at the back, with four in midfield and one up front, making it difficult to break them down."

Martin paid tribute to his opposite number, Peter Taylor, saying: "Peter is a brilliant manager who has coached at the top, top level. He's been England manager so he's right at the pinnacle of coaching.

"He's done a great job in his life in football, as a player and as a manager. I'm really looking forward to meeting him on Saturday."

Turning his attention to his own squad, Martin said: "We are a good side and we have got good players.

"We have to keep our self-belief, get a bit of momentum, get on a little roll and we can turn our club into a real good, challenging club where we're all much happier."
