The Spireites youth team look to make it back-to-back wins when they play Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Youth Alliance on Saturday, kick-off 11am.
Miguel Llera’s side are in fine form, after a resounding 4-0 win last weekend against Rotherham. The victory saw Levi Amantchi score an impressive hat-trick, and just a few days later he came off the bench to make his first-team debut against Boreham Wood.
Before the Rotherham match, they had lost to Wigan in the EFL Youth Alliance Cup, having been 2-0 up until late on in the game. However, Llera was positive about the performance against Wigan, and was pleased to bounce back against Rotherham.
He said: “We were the much better team for 70 minutes. We were 2-0 up, and in the last 20 minutes, we lost control of the game. We were really disappointed because we were much better than Wigan.
“We want to perform for the full 90 minutes, not just 70 like we did in the previous game.
“I think the lads did fantastic to maintain their standards during the 90 minutes. It was a great result against a really good side.”
Looking ahead to the game against Doncaster on Saturday, Llera stated that it will be a good test for his team.
“It’s a challenge for the lads and for everybody because Doncaster have improved massively this year,” he said.
“Now I think they are one of the better sides in our league. I think our team is in really good shape.”
Coach Llera also mentioned how pleased he was to see Amantchi come through his youth team, and make his first-team debut for the Spireites.
Llera said: “I am really pleased because I know what he is capable of. I think he got the reward for all the effort he has put in during pre-season.
“He has to keep going and not take his foot off the gas, and I’m pretty sure he is going to give this club a lot of success.”
