Martin Allen says that the attitude of the players cannot be questioned as the Spireites prepare for Tuesday night's game at Boreham Wood.

While naturally disappointed with the 1-0 defeat at home to Leyton Orient on Saturday, Martin gave his full backing to the players. He said: "I think the players' attitude has been spot-on. I can't deny that.

"You can't say they've been lazy and careless, care-free and sloppy because they certainly weren't in that game on Saturday. We did play very, very well.

"We've got to eradicate some errors that have crept in. Apart from that, I can't fault them.

"I think they had one effort at our goal in the second half and scored. The rest of the time, we dominated the match, but we're not coming out of it with anything and of course everybody's gone home disappointed and that's the hard thing to take."

Martin paid tribute to his opposite number at Boreham Wood and acknowledged that Luke Garrard's team will provide Chesterfield with another tough test. He commented: "They've got a very good manager. He recruits very well and he's got a couple of my old players who are great lads.

"Every game is going to be difficult. They got to the play-off final last year and they're a very tough team. We need to be right at our best."
