Lead foundation phase coach Neil Cluxton provides an update...

During the summer our young academy players attended a two-day residential at Lea Green Activity Centre in the Peak District. They undertook a number of team-building activities including high ropes, stream walking and night orienteering, designed to stretch and challenge them and test their leadership and communication skills.

The staff at Lea Green were extremely positive in their praise of our young players in terms of their behaviour and respect around the venue and towards staff.

The pre-season programme included games against Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United, where we competed well in all the age groups, giving a good account of ourselves against category 1 and 2 academies.

The season has started well with positive results against our local rivals including Scunthorpe United, Rotherham United and Lincoln City. We also host local grassroots teams at training every month. Clubs can get in touch with me via email: to arrange a fixture.

We are running a race night on Thursday, December 20 at the Proact as an academy fundraiser and Christmas social event for all parents and players.
