Martin Allen has revealed that promising young striker Levi Amantchi is in line to make his first senior start in Tuesday night’s visit to Sutton United.
The Spireites secured a 1-1 draw against Wrexham last weekend, stretching their unbeaten run to five games.
Speaking to Spireites Digital ahead of the trip to Gander Green Lane, Allen explained how Tom Denton’s suspension has paved the way for Amantchi to start.
He said: ‘‘It’s going to be an extremely exciting move for him. Another young player starting in the team, full of pace and energy.
‘’I thought he was brilliant on Saturday and was so unlucky not to score. All of us are excited with Levi.’’
Martin then went on to explain what Amantchi will bring to the side, saying ‘’He’s fast, skilful, good in the air. He’s hungry, willing to run and chase and fight for the team. All the things that we’ve embraced over the past few weeks which have enabled us to get on a far better run of performances.’’
Giving an update on the rest of his squad, the Spireites boss confirmed he had no new injury concerns.
‘’There were no fresh injuries. Longer term, Robbie Weir is coming back nicely now and Shwan [Jalal] should be training this morning.
‘’Apart from that, we’re all up to date and ready for the trip down to London,’’ he said.
Looking at the challenge Chesterfield are faced with, Martin said: ‘’It’s a difficult place to go and play. He [Paul Doswell] always gets them fired up. They are good team and good teams are always hard to beat.’’
