The youth team went down to a narrow 4-3 defeat at home to their Oldham Athletic counterparts at the weekend.
In blustery conditions, the young Spireites went behind before taking a 2-1 lead following goals from Luke Rawson and Brandon Howard. Jack Holmes added a third from the penalty spot late in the game.
Reflecting on the game, coach Miguel Llera said: "It was a tough game due to the weather conditions. At times we played really good football.
"We tried to assume the new way we want to play, playing more from the back and playing more football, which the lads are enjoying.
"The lads are taking the new information on board. We conceded four goals due to individual mistakes.
"We were very comfortable at 2-1, managing the game well, but a silly mistake when playing from the back resulted in them equalising.
"The lads lost their concentration, which cost us a further two goals. It's part of the learning process and hopefully the kids will continue to take on board what we're trying to implement."
Spireites: Wharton, Emery (Turner 71), Render, Sharman, Fuertado, Holmes, Walker (Bradbury 80), Howard, Rawson (Papworth 80), Gibson, Smith
