We take a look at teenage striker Levi Amantchi, who today signed his first professional contract.
Levi joined the academy after playing for the feted Wallsend Boys Club. More than 65 players have gone on to play professionally after turning out for the north-east club, including former England trio Alan Shearer, Peter Beardsley and Michael Carrick. Former Spireites Tony Lormor, Lee Novak and Alex Whitmore are also among the Wallsend Boys Club alumni.
The tall forward impressed the Chesterfield academy staff when he played and scored in a trial game against Sheffield Wednesday. He was subsquently offered a chance to join the Spireites.
After impressing in the youth team, Levi received a call-up to the senior squad earlier this season and made his debut as a substitute in the game at Boreham Wood in early September. He also came on to appear in the last home game against AFC Fylde.
The 17-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract, with the club also having an option for a 12-month extension.
