A superb strike from Brandon Howard and a goal from substitute Javanne Smith gave the Spireites youth team a 2-0 victory at Hartlepool United on Saturday.

Coach Miguel Llera was pleased with the performance and the result. He said: "I was happy for the lads because they have been working really hard.

"The first goal was an amazing goal from Brandon Howard and the second came from Javanne Smith following a quick transition. We closed the game down with the second goal .

"The result was really important for them to keep believing in the work that we have been doing for the last month and a half."

The result was even more impressive, given the fact that Levi Amantchi and Jack Holmes were both missing due to being involved with the first-team squad.

Miguel said: "Levi and Jack are really important players for us. I think it is really important for the rest of the lads that players like Levi and Jack are involved with the first team because that's what they're also looking to achieve."

Spireites: Wharton, Emery, Gibson, Sharman, Wild, Render, Howard, Walker (Smith 72), Rawson, Fuertado, Turner (Tansley 60)

Unused substitutes: Unwin-Marris, Papworth & Clogg
