Chesterfield director & company secretary Ashley Carson has revealed that the search for a new manager is well underway, adding that an appointment will be made soon.
He does not want to put a time-scale on the decision but recognises that the new man in charge will need as much time as possible to prepare for next season.
“After considering 35 applications, we have interviewed some strong candidates for the role,” said Ashley. “The board, together with club owner Dave Allen, will carefully assess the claims of those under consideration before making a decision.
“The retained list has to be announced later this month and there are ten players who will be out of contract so the new manager will have some key decisions to make before assembling a new-look squad."
