Marshall Willock made his Matlock Town debut on Saturday, playing 75 minutes for the Gladiators in their 1-0 loss at Rushall Olympic.
Striker Ricky German also featured, playing the full 90 minutes at Dales Lane.
The hosts took the lead after just five minutes through Richard Brodie and were able to hang on for the three points, despite coming under a significant amount of pressure. German could have equalised for his side just minutes after they went behind, but could only direct his header straight at Joe Slinn.
Both German and Willock will be hoping to get back to winning ways, when they face Stourbridge at Causeway Lane this Wednesday evening, 7.45pm.
Scott Wiseman came off the bench to help Rochdale secure a 1-1 draw against Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park on Saturday.
The Gibraltar international was unable to retain his place in the Dale starting line-up, following their disappointing 2-0 defeat at home to Fleetwood Town the week before, but was introduced in the 76th minute.
Keith Hill’s side took a surprise lead against the promotion hopefuls in the 20th minute, courtesy of a long-range effort from Callum Camps. However, they were forced to settle for a point as Tom Hopper headed home for the hosts early in the second half.
Wiseman will be hoping that he made a big enough impact off the bench to secure a return to the Dale starting line-up for their home game against Shrewsbury Town on Good Friday.
Meanwhile, fellow striker Delial Brewster was unable to secure a place in Chorley’s squad at the weekend as they also fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to Boston United in the National League North.
Brewster will be looking to secure a place in Matt Jansen’s squad for their upcoming game away at York City on Saturday, 3pm.
