Chesterfield's foundation phase academy teams represented the club in a friendly futsal tournament recently at Queen's Park Sports Centre.
A combination of the U-9s and 10s formed two teams to take part in an eight-team tournament which was won by Rotherham FC against our own Chesterfield FC Blues team in a keenly contested final.
"All players were a credit to the club, playing a new style of football which is becoming more and more popular," said foundation lead coach Neil Cluxton.
"Our training from September will include a weekly futsal session aimed at improving the technical aspects of football. If any grassroots teams from U-9s to the 11s in the local area would like to play either a futsal or the usual format fixture, please get in touch with me over the summer period."
The academy is looking to forge strong links with all the grassroots teams in the area and would welcome teams throughout the season. To contact Neil, please email email@example.com.
