I've got to say that the lads on Saturday showed true grit and determination against a very competitive team.
We have no room to allow ourselves to be bullied, intimidated or rolled over wherever we go. And with one 16-year-old and four 17-year-olds in our group, I was delighted with the mental strength right through the whole group.
On Saturday evening, my wife Lisa showed great guts, courage and determination, up against a real tough challenge, to raise money for a cancer charity.
When the going got tough, she got going with no moaning, no complaining and a full-on performance. To date, she has raised over £2,300 and we can't thank everybody ennough for their kindness and generosity.
This morning, I met a man who has enjoyed the ups and downs and a man who is an iconic club legend. When the going got tough, he was always stood there at the front, ready to face the music and deal with the public and media criticism which comes as part of our job.
I love characters and personalities and I reckon he's Madder than me. And on Wednesday night, I hope we get a great crowd for Tommy Lee's testimonial against Wigan Athletic. What a great night that's going to be!
Tomorrow night, Tommy is joining me for a Q&A for all our shirt sponsors who've been so kind and generous. A total of 23 of the 40 shirts have now been sponsored and we will be raffling one of the infamous black shirts, signed by all of the new squad!
That Q&A will be fun, for sure. My shirt is also still available and is a little bit more expensive as I am, unfortunately, XXXL!
