The Spireites continued their build-up to the forthcoming season with a 4-0 victory at Gainsborough Trinity. Gozie Ugwu scored in the first half with a triallist striker, Zavon Hines (penalty) and Laurence Maguire also on target after the break.
After a quiet opening, the triallist striker had a shot beaten away by keeper Jon Stewart.
Jerome Binnom-Williams, who carried on after receiving treatment following an awkward fall, had a hand in the opening goal. His low shot deflected into the path of Ugwu who slotted the ball past Stewart.
Binnom-Williams then put a header wide shortly afterwards. George Smith and Robbie Weir also put efforts off-target during the first 45 minutes.
Shwan Jalal had a solitary save to make before the break, keeping out Ashley Worsfold's low shot.
Triallist number 35 added a second goal inside the opening minute of the second half, meeting Smith's cross from the left with a fine header.
New signing Lee Shaw came on in the 58th minute to make his first appearance for Chesterfield. He was joined by a triallist wearing the number 23 shirt with triallist 35 and Ugwu both making way.
Jalal saved an Alex Byrne free-kick as the hosts looked to pull a goal back.
That proved to be Jalal's final contribution of the night as he made way for Joe Anyon minutes later.
Curtis Weston put an over-head kick over the bar after triallist 23 caused problems for the defence.
Martin Allen then made a triple substitution with Michael Nelson, Hines and triallist 22 taking over from Will Evans, Smith and Binnom-Williams.
Hines scored from the penalty spot after he was upended by Sam Kay as he burst into the area.
Maguire added a fourth goal late on with a firm header.
