Chesterfield came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at Boston United on Saturday afternoon, with Zavon Hines scoring towards the end of the first half.
Martin Allen made eight changes to the side that kick-started pre-season with a 5-1 win at Sheffield FC last Saturday, with Joe Anyon, Sam Wedgbury, Joe Rowley, Ify Ofoegbu and Charlie Wakefield appearing in a team that also featured three un-named triallists.
Town were put under early pressure when a succession of corners fell Boston's way, but the defence stood firm.
Like Chesterfield, Boston have had a busy summer in the transfer market and it was they who enjoyed the best spells of football in the first half.
The home side found a deserved lead on half an hour. After a Chesterfield free-kick was headed clear, the loose ball was lofted forward to Ben Middleton who cut it back to the edge of the 'D' for debutant striker Adam Marriott, who found the top left corner of Anyon's goal.
Just minutes after conceding, Chesterfied levelled. A long ball from deep fell onto the head of Michael Nelson who nodded into the path of Hines and the former West Ham man produced an emphatic, low finish from the edge of the box.
Allen made three changes at half time with Jerome Binnom-Williams, George Smith and Laurence Maguire all coming on for Town. Binnom-Williams' appearance was short-lived, however, as he limped off after just a few minutes and was replaced by Charlie Carter.
The changes injected some life into the Chesterfield attack and Town nearly went ahead through Rowley, whose hard-hit effort from range was put behind for a corner.
Gozie Ugwu also came off the bench and his pace and strength posed immediate problems for the home side. Ugwu threatened with a low shot from close-range which was palmed away.
Chesterfield dominated for much of what was a largely uneventful second half, with Rowley, Ugwu and Triallist (35) all having half-chances and Town had to settle for a draw against a plucky Boston side.
